When Life Gives Me Lemons, I Make Lemon Drops

I’m a big fan of the lemon drop. It’s tangy and sweet and goes down easy. It’s cool on a summer day or a hot night. Damn it if I do say so myself, I look good drinking one.

Carrie Bradshaws out there may prefer a cosmo but not me. Too sweet. Too trendy. Too girly. Too East Coast.

What you drink can say a lot about you. I’m not terribly discriminating when it comes to alcoholic beverages but if I had to psychoanalyze my lemon drop preference, I’d surmise it to this:

• Best of both worlds – a little bit sour, a little bit sweet
• Simple yet sophisticated
• Sturdy base, graspable middle & arms wide, reach for the stars top
• Works well in the country or the city
• Translates well; adapts well
• Basic ingredients found most places but changes drastically depending on quality and design

Now I’ve been called sweet. I get along with most anyone but do me wrong and you’ll be the one left with the sour taste in your mouth.

I’m pretty low maintenance but typically class it up so long as my archenemy, tequila is not in the picture.

Like the lemon drop glass shape, I’m grounded. I’m attainable within arms reach. I may not always succeed but, like the Y, I’m open and strive upward.

Take me to the country, dine me in the city, I’ll always work well in both and I genuinely have a fondness for both.

I can buddy up with a Fiona, a Fergie, a farmer or a fashionista. From Paris to Punxsutawney, it doesn’t take me long to speak the local tongue. I adapt to most places.

Listen up men. You can save a few and choose the low shelf Smirnoff but be stuck with a her of a hangover in your future or you can go with the quality vodka and be swooning in señorita. You can also elect a bartender who will serve it simple and quick or one who will take the time to shake it, strain it and pour it into a chilled glass and garnish it with pizzazz.

And ladies, why be low grade when with a little creativity and drive, you can be Absolut?

Most people are what they’re made of and when life gives me lemons, I make lemon drops.
Bottoms up!
